Paramount billed the 73 cents ๐ฌ๐ธ
Plus: the family that pays itself 10% and its workers 20%

Hello, Biz Enthusiasts!
Paramount sent twelve states a bill for $1,884,726,092.73, and yes, that 73 cents is real. Spotify deleted 75 million tracks and the royalty pool did not grow by a single dollar. Blue Apron is still shipping boxes, just not always with food inside them. Somewhere a subscriber is staring at a burst container of harissa and rediscovering the grocery store, which is the most expensive way anyone has ever learned that supermarkets exist. The margins are thin and the boxes are empty - let's dig in.
Hot Takes ๐
1. Paramount Sent a Bill With 73 Cents on the End ๐ฌโณ Paramount asked the court to make twelve states and the Writers Guild post a bond of $1,884,726,092.73 before its antitrust trial opens on March 2. The number is precise to the cent, which is either excellent accounting or excellent theater. The part Paramount's own filings quietly admit is that its US clearance expires February 19, 2027, eleven days before that trial starts, and the meter is running at roughly $7.22 million a day.
2. Spotify Deleted 75 Million Tracks. Payouts Didn't Move ๐ต๐ณ๏ธ Spotify pulled more than 75 million spammy tracks in twelve months and the royalty pool did not grow by a dollar. That is the whole trick: these platforms pay creators a fixed share of a pot, so AI slop dilutes the humans already in the pot and costs the platform nothing either way. Deezer, the one company publishing the numbers, says AI tracks passed half of all daily uploads in June 2026 while pulling just 1% to 3% of streams, and 85% of those streams were fraudulent.
3. Tesla Killed a 10-Megawatt Product for a 100,000-Megawatt One โ๏ธ๐ Tesla quietly pulled Solar Roof from its website this week. No announcement, pages redirected to ordinary panels. The stated problems were cost, slow installs and tiles that warped in the heat, but the real math is that Tesla now wants to build 100 gigawatts of solar a year, and a hand-installed custom roof does not scale to that. Musk demoed those tiles on a Desperate Housewives set in October 2016 to help sell the $2.6 billion SolarCity deal, which makes this the most elaborate set change in solar history.
4. One Rival Reached Breakeven by Firing 4 Million Customers ๐ต๐ฆ Flipkart Minutes went from roughly 395,000 orders a day last November to nearly 1.2 million across about 1,035 micro-fulfilment centres, and cut delivery times from 13 minutes to 11. That works out to about 1,111 orders per store per day, behind Blinkit's 1,489 and Zepto's 1,677. Order count is the scoreboard everybody reports, but Zepto has the densest network in India and still lost about 26 paise on every rupee of revenue last year, so somebody's scoreboard is lying.
5. Blue Apron Sold Its Factories. Now the Boxes Show Up Empty ๐ฅก๐ฌ In June 2023 Blue Apron sold its two fulfillment centers to FreshRealm, booked a $48.6 million loss on the sale, and signed a ten-year deal making FreshRealm its only producer. FreshRealm filed Chapter 11 in April 2026, and the rescue plan gives Misfits Market until August 31 to move production into its own warehouses. Customers who have paid $100 a week for ten years are now opening boxes with the chicken missing and cancelling decade-old subscriptions on the spot.
